The Buffalo Bills’ football game against the Cincinnati Bengals was suspended Monday night after one of the players suffered a terrifying injury.
Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed with about six minutes left in the first quarter after he made a tackle, got up, took a step backward, and fell to the ground.
The NFL said in a statement that the game was suspended over the incident.
“Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics,” the NFL said . “He was then transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.”

“I’m told Damar Hamlin has a pulse, but is not breathing on his own,” FOX19 sports reporter Joe Danneman tweeted. “He is being transported to UC. Needed AED and CPR on the field.”
The NFL Players Association released a statement over the incident saying that the entire community was praying for him.
“The NFLPA and everyone in our community is praying for Damar Hamlin,” the NFL Players Association said in a statement. “We have been in touch with Bills and Bengals players, and with the NFL. The only thing that matters at this moment is Damar’s health and well-being.”
