Texas Governor Greg Abbott slammed President Joe Biden and his administration on Sunday in response to the border crisis that the administration has caused with its policies which comes as the situation at the border is expected to get significantly worse this week as Title 42 is set to expire.
Abbott made the remarks on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream when asked about comments from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who claimed that the border is closed and that the immigration problem is Congress’ fault.
Bream also noted that the White House is trying to blame Abbott in-part for the immigration crisis because he has shipped some illegal aliens to blue states because Texas simply does not have the resources to deal with the surge in illegal aliens.
“Well, first of all, the reason why we are busing those migrants across the country is because small little towns on the border like Del Rio and Eagle Pass, they have no capacity to deal with the number of people coming across the border, and we have to relieve the congestion in those small communities and bus them to larger communities,” Abbott responded. “That said, Shannon, it must be pointed out also, everything that you just said that Mayorkas said is just a flat out lie or total ignorance. He says that the border is closed. Everybody in America knows that the border is not closed and it’s more open.”
Abbott noted that the border situation was significantly better under the Trump administration and that it rapidly deteriorated “only when Biden came in and eliminated all those policies and put down a welcome back — welcome mat to the entire world that the border is now open, that we suddenly have the chaos that has caused solely by policies put into place by Joe Biden.”
Abbott laughed on Biden’s attempt to place a small number of troops along the 2,000 mile U.S.-Mexico border, saying that Biden was sending them there “to do paperwork, and he’s not going to secure the border.”
