‘I Called Her’: Candace Cameron Bure’s All-Class Response After JoJo Siwa Trashes Her As ‘Rudest Celebrity’

Actress Candace Cameron Bure on Tuesday posted a video addressing “Dance Moms” alum and singer JoJo Siwa naming her as the “rudest” celebrity she’s met.

Siwa, a 19-year-old who’s been dubbed a “gay icon,” flashed a snap of Bure as text read, “Rudest celebrity I’ve met,” in a viral TikTok post on Sunday.

“Honestly, I was shocked when I saw the TikTok on Sunday, and I had no idea where it came from,” Bure said in a video to her followers. “I immediately tried to reach out to her through a mutual friend … because I didn’t know what happened — I didn’t know.”

The “Fuller House” star said she was finally able to get in touch with Siwa, and the pair were able to clear the air.

“I called her,” Bure said. “We had a great conversation.”

On the call, Bure asked the pop singer what she did to offend her. “I didn’t think this was gonna go viral … It was just a silly TikTok trend,” Siwa told Bure, the actress recalled. “I didn’t think it was a big deal.”

“Well, it was a big deal, but what did I do to you? What did I do?” Bure said she asked Siwa.

The “Dance Moms” alum told Bure the whole thing was “silly,” and she “felt bad” that it blew up, and then finally disclosed what she was upset about.

“I met you at the ‘Fuller House’ premiere when I was 11 years old,” Siwa said, according to Bure. When the singer asked the actress for a photo on the red carpet, Siwa said Bure told her, “not right now,” and then went back to the madness of the red carpet.

“Oh, JoJo,” Bure reacted. “I’m so sorry.”

“You weren’t even mean,” Siwa told Bure, the actress said, adding, “I get it now as an adult … but at that time, I was 11.”

“I feel crummy. JoJo, I’m so sorry,” Bure told Siwa. “As a mom, it breaks my heart that I made you feel that way.”

“We had a really great discussion,” the Hallmark star said. “So that was it — all good, all good on the JoJo front.”

Bure concluded the post with what she later joked was the “‘Full house’ lesson of the day.”

“I think the lesson we can learn … is that even a ten-second trending TikTok video can do damage, because our words matter, and our actions matter,” she told her followers, encouraging people “to be mindful of what we do post, even if it’s meant to be fun and innocent at the time.”

To anyone who’s “personally run into me, and I was not the person you were hoping for or expecting, I just want to say I’m sorry,” Bure added.

The actress said it’s her “joy” to speak to her fans but added that she’s “still a human being” who can be stressed or “have a bad day” like anyone else.

“I just hope that we could all have grace for one another,” she closed the video.

Bure notably tagged Siwa in the post addressing the controversy. As of Wednesday morning, Siwa’s TikTok naming Bure as the “rudest” celebrity remains up.
