Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ Show Canceled By Facebook

Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk” on Wednesday became the latest show to be canceled by Facebook as the social media platform’s parent company, Meta, reportedly announced plans to move toward virtual reality experiences.

The 51-year-old actress’ online program, which Smith co-hosted with her daughter, Willow, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, is the final Facebook Watch Original series to be taken off the platform, Page Six reported. None of the ladies have publicly commented on the cancellation.

The show’s producer, Westbrook Media, is reportedly looking for another platform, Deadline noted.

The move comes after the departure of Meta’s head of development and programming, Mina Lefevre, amid the company’s massive layoffs.

Meta is reportedly working on creating virtual reality experiences across all its platforms, Deadline noted.

The actress and wife of Will Smith launched her show on Facebook in 2018. It ran for five seasons, produced more than 120 episodes, and was watched by millions, TMZ noted.

Celebrities like Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, and Kelly Osbourne would sit down with Jada, her daughter, and her mother, to discuss various topics.

The series generated numerous headlines as Jada opened up about personal family dramas, like her romantic “entanglement” with her son’s friend, singer August Alsina, and her reaction to Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. At the time, the “Girls Trip” star said her “deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile.”

“The state of the world today, we need them both,” she added. “And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”
