Actress and comedian Kathy Griffin took some serious blowback on Tuesday after she claimed that the only way to prevent “civil war” would be to vote Democrat in future elections.
Griffin shared her thoughts in a tweet, claiming that only people who were in favor of such a conflict would vote for Republicans in November’s midterm elections.
“If you don’t want a Civil War, vote for Democrats in November,” she tweeted. “If you do want Civil War, vote Republican.”

Griffin’s most recent claim to fame was a photo in which she held up a prop made to look like the severed head of former President Donald Trump. That photo cost the “My Life on the D-List” actress her annual gig hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast alongside longtime network anchor Anderson Cooper.
Critics appeared to be just as impressed with Griffin’s assertion of imminent civil war as they were with her staged Trump photo — and they responded en masse via Twitter.
“So you’re threatening civil war from the Left if you don’t get your way? I thought Biden just said WE were the violent ones …” Mrs. Massacre 2.0 (@missus_massacre) tweeted.

“If the choice is being crushed by nasty totalitarian deviants or Civil War—well…” Dave Reaboi left his conclusion to the imagination.
“So you’re threatening war if the election doesn’t go your way and Democrats do not win,” came from @irishamerican27. “We know the threat is not idle; we have been living through your civil war for six years now. We’re used to it.”
“Kathy Griffin is inciting violence on Twitter again. She must be struggling to book gigs and is in need of attention,” Brigitte Gabriel added.
Jeremy Redfern commented, “It wouldn’t be the first time the Democrats started a civil war.”
“If you like high gas prices, vote for Democrats in November. If you do want to be energy independent, vote Republican,” Jillian Anderson took her tweet in a slightly different direction.
“Ter·ror·ism (noun): the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims,” @mostlypeacefull tweeted.
“This is WRONG. Crazy Hollywood Leftie threatening ‘Civil War’ if Dems don’t win,” Senator Ted Cruz commented. “Sadly, this is today’s Left: angry, hateful & violent.”
