Princess Kate Beats William In A Spin-Class Race — Wearing A Skirt And Heels

Princess Kate Middleton bested her husband, Britain’s Prince William, in a spin-class cycling race — and she did it with a smile — while wearing a long skirt and high-heeled boots.

William and Kate, whose official titles are — respectively — the Prince and Princess of Wales, were on hand in Wales on Tuesday to celebrate the tiny country’s national holiday, St. David’s Day. While there, the two made several stops to meet with the locals.

As Welsh journalist Emily Nash reported, the royal couple made a stop at Brynawel Rehab — an inpatient rehab center specializing in treatment for alcohol and drug dependency.

“William and Kate are also visiting Aberavon Celtic Leisure Centre, where this happened in the spin studio! The 45-second Tour de Aberavon sprint was won by Kate, in heels,” Nash continued, sharing a second video of a smiling Princess Kate pedaling away with the title.

Ten seconds in, Middleton appeared to get serious about the competition, flipping her long hair over her shoulder and digging in. From out of frame, a woman chided Prince William — who was also pedaling away — saying, “Your wife’s definitely going twelve-steps, she’s faster.”

The royal couple laughed along with the others in the spin class, gamely digging their heels in and pedaling furiously with all the rest as the race’s final countdown began. As it came to an end, Middleton reached out to pat her husband on the shoulder. “Talk to me in a minute,” he joked as he caught his breath.

Everyone applauded then, and Middleton, apparently believing Prince William had won, turned toward him as she clapped. But when all was said and done, the prize for the 45-second race went to “bike number 2” — which was occupied by the princess.

The visit to the fitness center was part of an initiative designed to show how athletic activity can benefit mental health.
