Questions Grow About Senator John Fetterman After Latest Alleged Actions While Hospitalized

Questions are beginning to mount about what is going on with Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) after he reportedly co-sponsored legislation this week despite being hospitalized in a mental health facility.

The news comes after Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland in mid-February for a multi-week stay to deal with severe depression.

Fetterman joined Sens. Bob Casey (D-PA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and J.D. Vance (R-OH) on Wednesday in introducing the Railway Safety Act of 2023 following the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.

This bill would:

✅Enhance train safety procedures.
✅Increase rail car inspections for those carrying hazardous materials.
✅Require two-person crews aboard every train.
✅Force rail carriers to face heightened fines for wrongdoing.
✅And invest in future safety improvements.

Fetterman also joined several other senators in introducing on Thursday new legislation designed to crack down on illegal child labor.

This bill would:

✅Increase employer civil penalties

✅Establish criminal penalties for willful or repeated violation of child labor laws

✅Ensure all working minors are protected regardless of classification

New York University medical professor Dr. Marc Siegel told Fox News that it was “very unusual” that Fetterman would be working while hospitalized in an in-patient facility.

“If you broke your ankle, you know, nobody would think twice,” Siegel said. “Okay, he’s got surgery on his ankle and he’s recovering, but he’s performing from the bed. But mental illness, by definition, is an impairment of mood and judgment. So it would be highly, highly unlikely that somebody could do that unless they’re just keeping them there to kind of keep them out of the way of the stress of daily living, but they feel that he’s up to the job.”

“Again, highly unusual,” Siegel noted, adding that he “would be very disturbed and concerned about the idea of him performing the job of senator while receiving intensive treatment for severe depression.”

Fetterman also sent a letter to Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw urging the company to provide assistance to a town in Pennsylvania that was impacted by the train derailment.

Fetterman’s office did not respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire.

“Fetterman is isolated in a mental institution right now,” said Sean Davis, CEO and co-founder of The Federalist. “He didn’t join a bipartisan group of anything. So the question is which staffer has appointed himself senator in Fetterman’s office?”

“Is there a single journalist within the border of the continental United States going to ask the question of how John Fetterman co-authored a letter in the United States Senate while under direct medical observation at Walter Reed for self admitted fear of harm and depression?” said political commentator Stephen L. Miller. “So he just did this? He co-authored this letter. While under observation for suicide and depression at Walter Reed and 10 days after several days of hospitalization?”

“The public deserves to know how Senator @JohnFetterman has been able to sponsor legislation while hospitalized for what’s been called a major depressive episode, esp when we haven’t directly seen him speak,” said Houman David Hemmati, MD, Ph.D. “Is it him or are others ‘running’ him?”
