Susan Sarandon Posts Holocaust Reference. Gina Carano Got Canceled For Similar Message.

Actress Susan Sarandon, an ardent leftist during her professional life who routinely retweets other ardent leftists, posted a message on social media akin to the message that actress Gina Carano posted in early 2021 that got her canceled.

In early 2021, Carano, then starring in Disney’s “The Mandalorian,”  posted a message on Instagram to illustrate her feelings about the hate directed toward political conservatives. She posted a photo with the caption:

Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?

The very next day Lucasfilm issued a statement saying, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The same day, UTA dropped Carano as a client.

Carano was fired on February 10, 2021. Two days after she was canceled, Carano announced a partnership with The Daily Wire in a deal where she could produce and star in her own film.

“I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob,” Carano said. “I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro added, “This is what Daily Wire exists to do: provide an alternative not just for consumers, but for creators who refuse to bow to the mob.”

On Monday, Sarandon posted, in a reference to the Holocaust, “It didn’t start with gas chambers. It started with one party controlling the media. One party controlling the message. One party deciding what is truth. One party censoring speech and silencing opposition. One party dividing citizens into ‘us’ and ‘them’ and calling on their supporters to harass ‘them.’ It started when good people turned a blind eye and let it happen.”

Last February, in an act for which she later apologized after severe blowback ensued, Sarandon sparked rage on social media after she mocked the massive funeral procession along New York City’s Fifth avenue for slain NYPD detective Jason Rivera, 22, by tweeting, “I’m gonna tell my kids this is what fascism looks like.”

That caption accompanied a photo of the funeral procession. Above the photo, she taunted, “’So, if all these cops weren’t needed for CRIME that day, doesn’t that mean they aren’t needed ANY day?”

Rivera and his partner Wilbert Mora, 27, who also died, were ambushed and shot in Harlem while responding to a domestic call.
