Fox News host Tucker Carlson laid into Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) during his Wednesday show — calling him out as “the snarling face of the donor class” — and prompting an angry response from Crenshaw.
Carlson began by sharing video of Crenshaw, who is backing Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in the contentious intra-party battle for the House Speaker position, accusing the Republicans who oppose McCarthy of being more interested in their own fame and notoriety than in working for the American people.

“They are enemies now,” Crenshaw told CNN’s Manu Raju — and he referred to the GOP holdouts as “terrorists” during a conversation with Fox News radio host Guy Benson: “We cannot let the terrorists win.”
“So you may like Kevin McCarthy — or not — both are allowed,” Carlson responded once the clip was over. “But no matter how you feel, you have to acknowledge — if you’re being honest — that people who don’t like Kevin McCarthy have a reason for that. They have real concerns, real issues.”
“But you’ll notice that Dan Crenshaw didn’t address any of those — none of them,” Carlson continued, noting that the former Navy SEAL had opted instead to insult those who opposed McCarthy’s Speaker bid, attacking their motives and their character.
“What you just saw as Dan Crenshaw spoke — what you just saw is the snarling face of the donor class, revealed for all to see finally,” Carlson added. “The deep loathing of disobedient voters — that may be their most passionate secret emotion. But they’re not bothering to hide that emotion anymore, now you know how they really feel.”
Crenshaw fired back at Carlson, claiming that it was a “figure of speech” to refer to members of his own party as “terrorists” — and suggesting that the Fox News host was just being overly sensitive.
“Unclutch your pearls. It’s a figure of speech. You can’t insult, slander, and hold everyone hostage with no way out – and not expect me to punch back. Grow thicker skin,” he said.

But not everyone was buying Crenshaw’s explanation. Jenna Ellis, an attorney who also served as a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, suggested that perhaps Crenshaw was the one who needed to “grow thicker skin.”
“You can’t expect to call 20 members of your own party ‘terrorists’ for exercising their right to vote for leadership and not expect Tucker to punch back,” Ellis said. “Grow thicker skin. Or maybe just stop being a jackass.”
