“The View” got a bit heated on Tuesday as the co-hosts responded to former Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), who formally announced that she planned to seek the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Republican co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin defended Haley — saying that she was happy to see someone ready to take on former President Donald Trump — but her co-hosts piled on almost immediately.
Whoopi Goldberg attacked first, saying, “Since you have been asleep this whole time and you just woke up, you’re just finding out that there are things about our country that are not perfect and for us to pretend that it is and that nothing happened is ridiculous, so you’re not saying anything new. And you of all people should know better because you used to actually have some sanity and knew right from wrong and then you lost your mind and went into some new direction, so don’t do that!”

Joy Behar weighed in next, calling Haley “part of the invasion of the bodysnatchers” and saying that the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations was one of “these politicians on the Right who now have become like mentally crazy.”
Behar went on to call Haley an “election denier” and criticized her for supporting Senate candidate Herschel Walker (R-GA).
Griffin jumped in then, complaining that her co-hosts wouldn’t even give her a few minutes to be excited about Haley’s candidacy, saying, “I’ve seen her take on dictators straight to their face. In every room I’ve been in with her, she’s the smartest in the room.”
Goldberg just laughed.

Sara Haines attempted to rein in the criticisms, telling Griffin that she understood why people might see Haley as a “step up” from former President Donald Trump — the only other candidate to have formally declared a 2024 presidential run — but took issue with Haley for saying that Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Vice President Kamala Harris, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) were all part of the “socialist Left.”
Sunny Hostin responded by attacking Haley for failing to get rid of the Confederate flag in South Carolina before a mass shooting at a church, adding, “I think she’s very much a political grifter and a chameleon and the bar is very low because it’s on the ground.”

Griffin pushed back, saying she believed the American people deserved two strong parties from which to choose — and argued that Haley’s inclusion made Republicans stronger.
