While the move has sparked much debate across the country, what hasn’t been answered is how many illegals former President Barack Obama will house at his nearly $12 million mansion on Martha’s Vineyard.
The Massachusetts community, with a net worth of nearly $20 billion in real estate value alone, claimed that it would help the migrants as best that it could. Yet, one emergency shelter coordinator is warning that the island simply doesn’t have enough room.
“There is multiple wheels that are turning and departments that are working together,” Winter Homes Shelter Coordinator Lisa Belcastro said Thursday morning.
“At some point in time, they have to move from here to somewhere else, right?” Belcastro said hopefully. “We don’t have the services to take care of 50 immigrants. And we certainly don’t have housing — we’re in a housing crisis as we are on this island.”
Well the good news for Belcastro is that in 2019, Obama and his wife Michelle bought a gigantic 6,892-square-foot house that has seven bedrooms and “sits on nearly 30 secluded acres fronting the Edgartown Great Pond between Slough Cove and Turkeyland Cove, with views of the Atlantic ocean,” per Homes & Gardens.
Belcastro can ask the former president to use some of that space. He could likely fit 50 illegal aliens in his living room alone.
If that doesn’t work, perhaps he can stick them elsewhere on the property. He certainly has the room.
According to the lifestyle magazine, there is also “a two-car garage, a detached barn and a pool,” in addition to 8 and 1/2 bathrooms and several stone fireplaces.
This would likely be a dream come true for many of the illegal aliens and practically an all-expense paid summer camp. There are still six days before fall officially begins, and what sounds more fun than swimming at the Obamas’ house by day and cozying up by the fire at night?
Or maybe some of the heirs of the Kennedy fortune will welcome them with open arms.
As of September 2021, the Kennedy-Schlossberg family still had “ownership of 60.3 acres which includes their family home and other buildings, including a 6,456-square-foot cedar-shingled main residence, four-bedroom guest house and three-bedroom caretaker’s house,” where former first lady Jackie Kennedy-Onassis used to reside.
Of course, the brunt of this migrant burden really should fall upon Obama.
He is responsible for tagging now-President Joe Biden as his vice presidential candidate in 2008, thus keeping alive Biden’s dreams of taking afternoon snoozes in the Oval Office.
Upon entering the White House after decades of campaigning for the position, Biden began immediately repealing several Trump-era protocols that kept illegal immigration at bay.
Now, border patrol has had nearly 4.9 million encounters at the southern border. The Biden administration has sent many of those individuals across the country.
For years, the Left has said that “no human being is illegal” and derided conservatives for not welcoming illegal aliens with open arms.
In 2017, all six towns on Martha’s Vineyard “passed nonbinding questions at their annual town meetings this year creating a mandate for selectmen to ‘refrain from using town funds and/or resources to enforce federal immigration laws, in keeping with current practices, unless presented with a criminal warrant, or other evidence or probable cause.’”
In other words, it became a sanctuary island. Now that it has 50 illegal aliens, island residents are perplexed about what to do with them.
Summer island goer Obama implored America to welcome illegal aliens in 2014.
“Scripture tells us that we shall not oppress a stranger, for we know the heart of a stranger – we were strangers once, too,” Obama said at the time. “And whether our forebears were strangers who crossed the Atlantic, or the Pacific, or the Rio Grande, we are here only because this country welcomed them in, and taught them that to be an American is about something more than what we look like, or what our last names are, or how we worship.”
It is time that folks like Obama put their money where their mouth is and welcome them into their homes.
Better yet, Biden can just close the border and this entire problem goes away. The likelihood of that happening is about as low as his former boss opening his mansion’s doors to the island’s latest residents.
