If you tuned into the news this week, you would think that Congressman-elect George Santos (R-NY) was the only liar to ever be elected to office.
On Monday, he admitted that he “embellished” his education, his career, and even matters relating to his love life prior to winning this year’s Congressional election.
In other words, Santos is a regular Joe Biden.
Santos claimed that he graduated college. That never actually happened.
During his first presidential run, Biden said he graduated in the top half of his law school. That wasn’t true — and not even impressive anyway.
The 34-year-old Republican has said he worked for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. Now Santos is saying that he was never employed by the two financial firms “directly.”
The 80-year-old Democrat has said he was a truck driver, taught classes at the University of Pennsylvania, was appointed to the Naval Academy, got arrested in South Africa and the during civil rights movement, and even traveled to war-torn Afghanistan to pin a Silver Star on a naval hero in dramatic fashion.
There is zero evidence to suggest any of those things happened. Worse, Biden or his team has admitted some of those remarks were untrue — only for Biden to repeat them again.
Then there’s the problem with these two men’s religious and cultural upbringings.
Santos stated that he was Jewish, but now argues what he meant was that he was “Jew-ish.”
The commander-in-chief — an Irish-American known for plagiarizing a British politician — has similarly said he’s one with the Jewish community.
“I probably went to shul more than many of you did,” Biden proclaimed during a 2022 celebration of Rosh Hashanah.
“I’m a practicing Catholic, but I’d go to services on Saturday and on Sunday,” the president added. “You all think I’m kidding. I’m not.”
Biden has also said he was raised in the black, Puerto Rican, and Greek communities — despite scant evidence of that ever happening.
Santos claims to be gay, despite previously being married to a woman. It’s a little murky, but it’s not out of the question to believe Santos divorced somebody because he’s attracted to men.
Biden, too, has told questionable stories about gay lovers — like when he said he saw two grown men sharing a moment of passion on the streets of Wilmington, Delaware, in broad daylight as a little boy.
Legacy media has given wall-to-wall coverage of Santos. Biden has received puff pieces with titles such as “Biden, Storyteller in Chief, Spins Yarns That Often Unravel” or “As he campaigns for president, Joe Biden tells a moving but false war story.”
The GOP millennial gets blunter treatment with articles headlined, “George Santos Admits to Lying About College and Work History.”
Santos actually has a leg up on Biden to some degree. In a lengthy apology — he fessed up to nearly all of his known lies so far.
Biden has rarely admitted that he’s wrong.
Furthermore, he has received little scrutiny from the same folks supposedly outraged by Santos.
That’s why Biden feels that he can tell lies about how he pinned his paternal Uncle Frank with the Purple Heart upon becoming Vice President in 2008 at the request of Biden’s father.
The only problem is that his Uncle Frank died in 1999 and his dad passed away in 2002. Nor is there information showing that his uncle received the Purple Heart. The story was completely made up, but nobody on the Left seems to care.
So the president’s lies will continue. Of course, it seems that both politicians are untrustworthy characters who should not be in office.
That might actually apply to all elected officials these days, but that’s neither here nor there for the purpose of this column.
Conservatives are concerned with this story because, unlike the left, we value the truth. The other side of the aisle wants to use this scandal because it is a golden opportunity to malign the entire GOP.
Why? Well, because the Left only understands and desires power. The truth is dispensable to them. They ignore Biden’s lack of character because it benefits their party. They attack Santos because it helps their cause.
Now, Democrats are calling for Santos’ resignation, while Biden will likely secure the 2024 Democratic nomination with ease.
